Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
The short version
- We only collect what we need to run MySkoolio, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.
- Your family's data is stored in Sydney.
- When our AI helps write a plan, it gets things like your child's year level and interests. It never gets their name, birth date, notes or photos.
- You can see, fix, download or delete your data whenever you like. Email hello@myskoolio.com.
1. Who we are
MySkoolio is a homeschool planner for Australian families, made in Brisbane. In this policy, "we" means MySkoolio and "you" means the parent or carer using it.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. If you have a question about your data, email hello@myskoolio.com and a real person will answer.
2. If you join the waitlist
We keep:
- your email address
- your state, if you choose one for the free checklist
- when you signed up and confirmed, and which form you used
We use these to send your confirmation email and checklist, and to tell you when MySkoolio launches and how to claim the founding price. We don't send anything else.
To stop spam, we check that sign-ups come from a real browser and limit how often one connection can sign up. For that limit we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address, never the address itself, and we delete it after a day.
If you don't confirm your email, we delete your sign-up after 30 days. Every email has a link to leave the waitlist, and leaving deletes your details straight away.
3. If you use the app
You give us information about your family so MySkoolio can plan and keep records for you. By adding a child, you're telling us you're their parent or carer and you're happy for us to keep their details for that purpose. Children don't have their own accounts.
About you: your name, email address, and your sign-in details (or your Google account if you sign in with Google).
About your family: your state, school days and hours, term dates, time zone, faith preference and the resources you own.
About each child: first name, birth date, year level, learning style and interests, plus anything you choose to add, such as notes about how they learn.
What you record: plans, lessons, attendance, reading logs, notes, work samples and photos, and registration details such as dates and reference numbers.
Photos and PDFs often hide details in the file, such as where a photo was taken and what phone took it. When you upload one, we remove all of that before it's saved. The only thing we keep is the day a photo was taken, so the work sample is dated.
Payments:Stripe handles them. We see your plan and whether it's active. We never see or store your card number.
Notes about how a child learns can include health information, which the law treats as sensitive. Only add what helps you plan. It's always optional, and it never leaves MySkoolio except in documents you choose to export.
4. How we use it
- to build your plans, keep your records and make the documents you ask for
- to send emails you need, such as sign-in links, receipts and reminders you turn on
- to keep MySkoolio secure and fix problems
We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies we set are the ones that keep you signed in.
5. How we use AI
MySkoolio uses CurricuLLM, an Australian education AI service, to suggest activities for your child's plan. To do that we send:
- year level, state, interests and learning style
- your school days, daily hours, faith preference and the resources you own
We never send your child's name, birth date, notes, photos or work samples, or anything about you. A test in our code checks this every time we change it.
AI suggestions can be wrong. You review every plan and can change any part of it.
6. Who else handles your data
We use a few services to run MySkoolio. Each only gets what it needs to do its job.
- Supabase stores your account, records and files, in Sydney.
- Vercel runs our website. Requests are handled in Sydney, but Vercel may keep short-lived logs in the United States.
- Plunk sends our emails. It stores email addresses in Germany and may deliver through the United States.
- Stripe handles payments, and may process them in the United States.
- CurricuLLMsuggests plan activities, from the details listed above. It's based in New South Wales.
Some of these are overseas, so some data, mainly your email address and payment details, may be handled in the United States or the European Union. We choose providers with strong security and contracts that protect your data.
We'd only give your data to anyone else if the law requires it, for example a court order.
7. Keeping it safe
Your data is encrypted when it's sent and when it's stored. Every family's records are walled off from every other family's at the database level, and photos are only reachable through short-lived private links.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as quickly as we can, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires, along with what happened and what you can do.
8. How long we keep it
- While you subscribe: for as long as you have an account.
- If your subscription ends: you move to the free plan and nothing is deleted. Your data stays until you delete your account.
- If you delete your account: we delete your data straight away. Copies in our backups are overwritten within 30 days.
- Receipts and payment records: Stripe and we keep these for as long as tax law requires.
Registration regulators may ask you to keep records for a set time. Download them before you delete your account, because we can't get them back afterwards.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you and your children
- correct anything that's wrong
- give you a copy of it
- delete it
Email hello@myskoolio.com. We'll reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner. You can also change most things yourself in the app.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled a privacy concern, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Our terms cover the rest of how MySkoolio works.
